Workers Comp Term Of the Day - Ombudsman

An impartial individual who is responsible for investigating complaints in order to mediate a fair and equitable settlement between aggravated parties. Ombudsman is originally a Swedish term. In some parts of the world it is a government official appointed to investigate complaints against the government made by citizens.

James has over 20 years of experience in insurance claims and underwriting, specializing in Workers' Compensation. James's educational background, which centered on computer technology, culminated in earning a Masters of Business Administration (MBA); an Associates in Claims designation (AIC); and an Associates in Risk Management designation (ARM). He is a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and a licensed financial advisor. He has been certified as an insurance instructor by the NC Department of Insurance. James is on the Board of Directors and is the Treasurer of the North Carolina Mid-State Safety Council. He has published a manual on Workers’ Compensation, three different claims processing manuals, and has written and has been quoted in numerous articles on reducing Workers’ Compensation costs for public and private employers.
